A normal dithecous or dithecous anther is made up of two anther lobes, which are connected by a strip of the sterile part called connective. Two anther lobes contain four elongated cavities or pollen sacs (microsporangia) in which pollen grains are produced. At a young age these dithecous anthers are tetralocular and have 4 lobes but then a septum develops and these at maturity become bilocular.
