Let investment in $12\%$ stock be ₹ $x$

Then, investment in $15\%$ stock = ₹ $12000-x$.

Income on one share of 12 % stock at ₹ 120 = $\frac{12}{120}$

Income on ₹ $x$ shares = $\frac{12}{120}\times$ $x$

Income on one share of 15% stock at ₹ 125 = $\frac{15}{125}$

Income on ₹ ($12000-x$) = $\frac{12}{120}\times$ ($12000-x$)

Given that total income is ₹ 1360

∴ $\frac{12}{120}x+\frac{15}{125}(12000–x)=1360$

$\frac{x}{10}+\frac{3}{25}(12000–x)=1360$

$5x+72000–6x=1360\times 50$

$x=4000$
