Let Vijay's salary $=$ Rs. $x$
Then Ajay's salary $=$ Rs.$(12000-x)$
Ajay's savings $=(100-80)\%=20\%$,
Vijay's savings $=(100-10)\%=90\%$
Since their savings are same,
$20\%$ of $(12000-x)=10\%$ of $x$
$\Rightarrow \frac{20}{100}\times 12000-20\%$ of $x=10\%$ of $x$
$\Rightarrow 30\%$ of $x=2400$
$\Rightarrow \frac{30}{100}\times x=2400$
