Saliva contains an enzyme called
(i) Amylase
(ii) Maltose
The enzyme amylase is present in saliva and acts upon starch (a carbohydrate) to produce maltose.
Pepsin is produced in the stomach and acts upon proteins to produce amino acids. The pancreas produces pancreatic juice which contains several enzymes like trypsin, lipase, and sucrase. They act upon proteins, starch, and fats to produce amino acid, maltose, fatty acids, and glucose.
