Solution

The correct option is A Androgens
Androgen is a hormone which stimulates the male characteristics in an individual. The principal androgens are testosterone and androstenedione. They are, of course, present in much higher levels in men and play an important role in male traits and reproductive activity. Other androgens include dihydrotestosterone (DHT), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). The androgens regulate the sebum secretions. During puberty the sebum secretion is higher due to the overactivity of the androgens, leading to acne development. Androgens are present in women also and are crucial for maintenance of mood, sense of well-being and they are active during the puberty. Hence, they can be the reason for the development of acne in females at the puberty.
Thus, the correct answer is the option (A).
