Solution

(i)
Nominal Value of each share = Rs. 50
Market Value of each share = Rs. 50 + 20% of Rs.50
= 50 + 20 over 100 cross times 50
= 50 + 10
= Rs. 60
Dividend on one share = 15% of Rs.50
=15 over 100 cross times 50 space equals space 7.5

Number of shares bought =
= fraction numerator Total dividend over denominator Dividend space o n space one share end fraction
= fraction numerator 600 over denominator 7.5 end fraction = 80

(ii)
His total investment =
= (Number of shares) × (Market Value of one share)
= 80 × (Rs. 60)
= Rs. 4800

(iii)
Rate of return
= fraction numerator Total space dividend over denominator Total space investment end fraction × 100
= 600 over 4800 cross times 100
= 12.5%
