Question

Sample of four metals A,B,C, and D were taken and added to the following solution one by one. The results obtained have been tabulated as follows :
MetalIron(II)SulphateCopper(II) SulphateZinc SulphateSilver Nitrate
ANo reaction Displacement
B

CNo reaction No reaction No reactionDisplacement
D
No reaction

Use the table above to answer the questions about metal A,B,C and D.
What would you observe when B is added to a solution of Copper(II) sulfate?

Solution

Order of reactivity of Iron, Zinc, Copper, and Silver: Zinc > Iron > Copper > Silver.
So, a metal that displaces zinc metal from its solution is the most reactive element and metal B displace zinc from its solution.
Hence, B is the most reactive metal among the given metal.
So, if metal B is added to Copper (II) Sulphate solution, it displaces copper from copper sulphate.
