Question

Sample of four metals A,B,C, and D were taken and added to the following solution one by one. The results obtained have been tabulated as follows :
MetalIron(II)SulphateCopper(II) SulphateZinc SulphateSilver Nitrate
ANo reaction Displacement
B

Displacement
CNo reaction No reaction No reactionDisplacement
D
No reaction

Use the table above to answer the questions about metal A,B,C and D.
Arrange the metals A,B,C, and D in order of decreasing reactivity.

Solution

Order of reactivity of Iron, Zinc, Copper, and Silver: Zinc > Iron > Copper > Silver.

So, a metal that displaces zinc from its solution is the most reactive element, the metal that can not displace silver from its solution is the least reactive metal, the metal which displaces iron from its solution but not zinc metal is the second most reactive element and the metal which does not displace iron from its solution but displaces copper from its solution is the third most reactive metal.

Hence, the order of reactivity of elements is B > A > C > D
