Question

Sanjana travels 660 km partly by train and partly by car. If she covers 300 km by train and the rest by car, it takes 13.5 hours. But if she travels 360 km by train and the rest by car, she takes 30 minutes longer. Find the time taken by Sanjana if she travels 660 km by car (in hrs)

The correct option is C 11
Let the speed of the train and car be t km/hr and c km/hr respectively.
As per the question, we have
300t+360c=13.5 ....(1)
and 360t+300c=14 ....(2)
On solving (1) and (2), we get
t=40 km/hr abd c=60 km/hr
Therefore, the time taken by car to travel 660 km =66060=11 hours.
