Sarika bought $\frac{2}{5}$meter of ribbon and Lalita $\frac{3}{4}$meter of ribbon. What is the total length of the ribbon they bought?

Length of ribbon bought by sarita = $\frac{2}{5}$ m

Length of ribbon bought by Lalita = $\frac{3}{4}$ m

Total length of ribbon = $\frac{2}{5}+\frac{3}{4}$

= $\frac{2\times 4+5\times 3}{20}$ [$\because$ L.C.M. of 5 and 4 is 20]

= $\frac{8+15}{20}=\frac{23}{20}=1\frac{3}{20}$ m

Therefore, they bought 1$\frac{3}{20}$ m of ribbon.
