Solution

The statement given here is True
Gene from Bacillus thuringiensis is introduced into cotton. Soil bacterium Bacillus thuringensesis produces the protein that kills certain insect-like lepidopterans, coleopterans, and dipterans.
The BT toxin exists as inactive Protoxins but once an insect ingests it in, it is converted into an active form of toxin due to the alkaline pH of the alimentary canal which solubilizers the crystal.
This gene which is isolated from Bacillus thuringesis is incorporated into several crop plants that are cotton, corn, etc. The choice of a gene depends upon the crop and targeted pest, as most BT toxin is insect group-specific.
