After removing one electron from calcium and potassium electronic configurations are as follows,1s22s22p63s23p64s1 and 1s22s22p63s23p6 respectively. Hence to remove one more electron that is second ionization potential from calcium is easier than potassium because potassium got noble and stable configuration after the first I.P. Hence the second I.P of calcium is less than that of potassium.
