Localizing the infections
Lymph is another important body fluid that flows through the lymphatic system. The main functions of lymph are:
1. It supplies nutrition and oxygen to those parts where blood cannot reach.
2. It drains the excess body fluid and metabolic products.
3. The lymphocytes present in the lymph help in defence by removing bacteria from tissues. Lymph nodes help in localizing the infection and spreading it in the whole body.
Removal of carbon dioxide is not a function of lymph, it is a function of blood.
