Specific immunity is the type of defence mechanism in which the specific immune cells like lymphocytes recognise the pathogens which have crossed the barrier of the skin, cell membrane, etc. The pathogens overcome the body's immune system and weaken it by multiplying in big numbers. However, the immune cells like B- lymphocytes and T- lymphocytes, recognise these harmful pathogens and release certain chemicals which not only weakens and neutralises these pathogens before destroying but also stimulates other immune cells to assist in the fight against the infection.
