Solution

The correct option is C Vernalisation- Plants respond to any temperature
The incorrect option is: vernalisation - plants respond to any temperature.

Vernalization is the phenomenon in which flowering depends on the exposure to specifically low temperatures, not just any temperature. Vernalization helps the plant to achieve proper vegetative growth, which is a period of growth of the plant between germination and flowering. It ensures the development of all the vegetative parts like the stem, leaves, and vascular system. It prevents precocious or premature reproductive development in the growing season and enables the plant to have sufficient time to reach maturity.

Photoperiodism is the response of plants to the relative length of day and night. The length of the day or duration of light during the day is called the light period or photoperiod. The remaining part of the day is called a dark period or scotoperiod. This periodic exposure to light leads to flowering in some plants.

Certain plants require a definite photoperiod to induce flowering called critical photoperiod. Based on this, the plants can be divided into: i. long day plants: these plants require a longer period of light than a critical photoperiod; ii. short-day plants: these plants require a shorter period of light than a critical photoperiod; iii. day-neutral plants: the flowering in these plants is not affected by the exposure to light duration.

Seed dormancy is the state of lack of germination of seed even when the environmental conditions are favourable.
