Select the incorrect statement regarding testis.
Testes are the primary sex organs in males. Apart from producing male gametes (sperms), they also produce hormones called androgens. These hormones play a vital role in the development of secondary sexual characters in males. Hence testis is endocrine in nature as it produces hormones. The hormones are produced by the interstitial cells or Leydig cells present in the interstitial spaces of the testis.
Testes are extra-abdominal organs as they are situated outside the abdominal cavity to facilitate spermatogenesis.
The sperms are produced by the spermatogonia (male germ cells) and nourished by the Sertoli cells.
