Solution

The correct option is B The segregation of alleles during gametogenesis causes mixing of traits

According to Mendel’s Law of dominance, factors which control the characters occur in pairs.
When dissimilar pair of factors are present together in an organism, one member of the pair gets expressed and hence is dominant over the other.
The unexpressed member is known as recessive factor (allele) and the expressed member is known as dominant factor (allele).

According to Mendel’s Law of segregation, the pair of factors (alleles) controlling a character, segregate or separate during gamete formation. Hence the gamete will have only one factor (allele) out of the pair and there is no blending or mixing of traits. The gametes are pure for the factor they possess.
