Select the oxides responsible for acid rain.
Sulphur dioxide
Nitrogen dioxide
Acid rain results when sulphur dioxide SO2 and nitrogen oxides such as NO and NO2 are released into the atmosphere and are transported by the wind and air currents. These react with water, oxygen and other chemicals to form sulfuric and nitric acids before falling to the ground. While a small portion of the gases that cause acid rain is from natural sources such as volcanoes, most of it comes from the burning of fossil fuels.
