It is used to separate colors in a dye.
It is used to separate drugs from blood.
Chromatography is the technique used for separation of those solutes that dissolve in the same solvent. In this technique, the rate of movement of the components is used to separate them. The components are dissolved in a solvent and are made to move through an absorbent solid. The component that is more soluble in the solvent, dissolves faster and gets separated faster in the medium.
Applications of Chromatography:-
-The ink that we use has water as a solvent and a dye is dissolved in it. Through chromatography, it is possible to separate the dye from the ink.
-Chromatographic techniques have been used in blood processing and purification.
-The majority of drugs that can be used by athletes can be detected in samples of urine. An athlete is told by a drug control officer to submit a urine sample for testing.
-Gas chromatography can be done on urine and blood samples. In gas chromatography, the sample is vaporized in the presence of a gaseous solvent and placed through a long path of a machine.
