Subash Chandra Bose was elected as the President of the Indian National Congress for two consecutive terms. Bose wanted a war against the British government; this led to his house arrest. He escaped it and reached Germany where he met Adolf Hitler, who extended his support. In Germany, he ran a radio broadcast called the 'Azad Hind Radio' encouraging Indians to take up arms against the British. Bose joined hands with Rash Behari Bose, founder of India Independence League in Tokyo, and called it the Indian National Army.
