This decentralised approach may have been proposed to encourage traditional skills and designs for weaving. Our weaving units are not able to fully utilise the high-quality yarn produced in the country. Most of the production is in small fragmented units, which cater to the local market, accompanied by the erratic power supply and lack of modern machinery.
