Elements
Compounds
An element is any substance that can not be decomposed into simpler substances by ordinary chemical processes.
Elements are the fundamental materials of which all matter is composed.
Examples: Diamond, Oxygen, Graphite
Since diamond and graphite are made up of only carbon atoms (property difference is because of difference in bonding) and oxygen which is gas also come under the element, as they are made up of same kind of atoms
A compound is a substance that results from a combination of two or more different chemical elements, in such a way that the atoms of the different elements are held together by chemical bonds that are difficult to break.
Sodium chloride i.e is composed of sodium and chlorine atoms which are different and distilled water i.e is composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom which are different atoms.
