Series arrangements are not used for domestic circuits because

1. In a series arrangement, the total resistance of the circuit will be equal to the sum of the individual resistances of the appliances and as a result, the current will be small.
2. If any one of the bulbs fuses, others will get automatically off because the circuit will break as there is only one path for the current to flow.
3. All the appliances are to be used simultaneously even if we do not need them.
