Solution

The correct option is D lacking clotting factors
Blood is composed of a clear, straw coloured, watery fluid called plasma in which different types of blood cells are suspended.

Serum is that part of blood which is similar in composition with plasma but does not contain clotting factors of blood. It includes all proteins not used in blood clotting and all the electrolytes, antibodies, antigens, hormones, etc.

When all clotting factors along with cells are removed from plasma, it becomes serum. Though it includes all proteins (globulins and albumins) not used in blood clotting and all the electrolytes, antibodies, antigens, hormones, and any exogenous substances.

Blood Plasma – clotting factors = Serum

So, the correct option is D.
