The proportion of Shail's and Neena's investment is-
$5000:3000=\frac{5000}{3000}=\frac{5}{3}=5:3$

Therefore the proportion of investments is $5:3$.
The profit must also be shared in the same proportion.
Let Shail's profit be $5x$ and that of Neena, $3x$.
Then, $5x+3x=6400$ as total profit is 6400
$\therefore 8x=6400$
$\therefore x=800$
Hence, Shail's share $=5x=4000$ rupees.
