Sheela and Meena together have 30 coins. If Sheela gives 5 coins to Meena, Meena will have double the number of coins Sheela has. Which of the following graphs represents the given information? Also find the solution of the equations.
Let the number of coins Sheela has, be x and number of coins Meena has is y.
Total number of coins is 30
⇒x+y=30
Then the Graph should pass through (30,0) and (0,30)
[By substituting x = 0, y = 0 and getting corresponding values]
Again, Sheela gives 5 coins to Meena, Meena will have double the number of coins Sheela has.
⇒2(x−5)=y+5⇒y=2x–15
Then the Graph should pass through ( 7.5, 0 ) and ( 0, -15)
[By substituting x = 0, y = 0 and getting corresponding values]
The point of intersection of two lines passing through above points is (15,15)
∴ The solution is (15, 15)
