Shivaji galloped with his horse for 21 km. He crossed the river which was $\frac{1}{3}$ the length he covered with the horse. Since his horse developed an injury, he had to trudge along with his horse and cover the remaining distance which was 4 times the breadth of the river.
Calculate the total distance covered by him. [4 MARKS]

The breadth of the River $=\frac{1}{3}\times 21$

$=7km$

Length covered by trnding $=4\left(\frac{1}{3}of21\right)km$

$\Rightarrow 4\left(7km\right)$

$\Rightarrow 28km$

Hence, the total distance covered by Shivaji = 21 km + .7 km + .28 km

$\Rightarrow$ 28 km + 28 km

= 56 kms.
