Shivam was travelling by a bus. An old man was sitting beside him. Suddenly the bus broke down on its way. The next bus stop was half a kilometre away from there. Shivam and old man had to cover this distance on foot. Shivam had no luggage. The old man had a suitcase having thin and small handle and he was feeling uncomfortable in carrying it. Shivam asked the old man to allow him to carry his suitcase. And thus he carried the old man's suitcase to the bus stop.

(A) Why was the old man feeling uncomfortable in carrying the suitcase? Give the scientific reason.

(B) What type of suitcase should he have so that he does not face such problems? Give reasons.

(C) Which moral value did Shivam show by carrying the suitcase?

1. We know that, $pressure=\frac{force}{area}$.
2. It means to pressure and area are inversely related.
3. Since the surface area of the handle was less, the pressure exerted on the hand of the old man, due to the weight of the suitcase was more.
4. Therefore, he was feeling uncomfortable.

(B)

1. Larger the surface area, the smaller the pressure exerted on it.
2. If the handle of the suitcase is broad, the pressure exerted on the hand would be less and it will be convenient in carrying on.
3. So the old man should have a suitcase with a broad and thick handle.

(C)

1. Since, Shivam noticed that the old man is going through such a pain in handling the suitcase and approached him to help.
2. This shows he is very kind and helpful.
3. It also shows his respect for elders.
