  • The spinal cord is a long tube-like structure beginning at the end of the brain stem and continues down to the bottom of the spine.
  • It is made up of nervous tissues and is a part of the Central nervous system.
  • It mainly has two functions-
  1. Connects the peripheral nervous system (PNS) to the brain.
  2. Nerve impulses that reach this spinal cord via sensory neurons and are then transmitted to the brain.
