Solution

Dear Student

Answer 1. For plantation workers in Assam, freedom meant the right to move freely in and out of the confined space in which they were enclosed, and it meant retaining a link with the village from which they had come.
The tribals of Gudem Hills of Andhra Pradesh interpreted Swaraj as the restoration of their traditional rights over forest produce and acess to their means of livelihood. Their movement was led by Alluri Sitaram Raju and was militant in nature. They used tactics that were different from those used by Congress.
For Congress, Swaraj means self rule. According to them, British rule was established and survived in India only due to cooperation of Indians.cooperation. If Indians refused to cooperate, British rule in India would collapse within a year, and swaraj would come.

Answer 2. Gandhiji decided to withdraw the Non-Cooperation Movement due to various incidents of violence perpetrated by the masses, especially the Chauri Chaura incident in 1922 where the people clashed with the police, setting a police-station on fire. Gandhiji felt that the people were not yet ready for a mass struggle and people have still not been able to understand his principles of non violence and satyagarha.
