How did the Nazi party come into existence? What status did it enjoy by 1932?

Nazism was founded by Adolf Hitler with an aim to do away with the humiliating terms of the treaty of Versailles and to establish absolute dictatorial control over Germany and it's sister states. It gained much popularity by the German public by the beginning of 1932, as they could see it as an organisation which will take revenge for the humiliation in the treaty of Versailles and bring back lost glory of Germany.
