Open in App
Solution

It is the functional unit of the ovary. Components of a graafian follicle is
1. One egg 2. Granulosa cells surrounding the egg and lining the wall of the follicle, produce estrogen 3. Theca cells, produce androgens and progesterone 4. surrounding connective tissue. When the follicle matures and when it receives the right signal, it extrudes the egg out (it ruptures). The egg is picked by the fallopian tube, where fertilization takes place there with a sperm. The remnants of the follicle becomes the corpus luteum (yellow body), that produces progesterone to prepare the lining of the uterus for implantation and pregnancy.
