Describe briefly various methods of reproduction in bacteria and also the mechanism of transformation.

Reproduction in bacteria can occur through three methods:

1. Binary fission: It occurs under favourable conditions.
2. Sporulation: Occurs by endospore formation.
3. Genetic recombination: It is a primitive type of DNA transfer from one bacteria to another and can occur in three ways:

• a) Conjugation
• b) Transduction
• c) Transformation: In this method, bacteria absorbs the DNA from its dead relative present in surrounding and integrate it into its own nucleoid.
