Describe the structure and functions of mitochondria.

The mitochondria are organelles found in eukaryotic cells that are associated with energy production or with the production of ATP. Mitochondria are made up of two membranes- the outer and the inner membrane. The inner membrane form folds called the cristae that enclose the matrix.
