Genetically modified crops are the plants that have had their genes manipulated. Genetically modified crops are plants used in agriculture, the DNA of which has been modified using genetic engineering methods. In most cases, the aim is to introduce a new trait to the plant which does not occur naturally in the species. Farmers have widely adopted GM technology.

• GMOs require much less chemicals to thrive, the impact on the environment is lessened.
  
• One of the modifications made to the crops is an added resistance to disease that would normally kill off the crops. This keeps the yields high and the prices for the consumers low.
