Microbodies are small organelles found in both plant and animal cells. They include peroxisomes, glyoxysomes, glycosomes, and hydrogenosomes. These organelles are generally involved in biochemical breakdown and oxidation of different molecules in an organism. They usually contain digestive enzymes that are specific in their function.
