What would be the effect if the cilia of ciliated columnar epithelium are destroyed?

Solution

The lashing movement of cilia helps in the upward movement of mucus along the respiratory tract. This helps in the removal of minute particles which get trapped within the mucus. If cilia are destroyed, the removal of these particles does not take place which leads to several infections.
