Solution

This lipid bilayer model was given by Singer and Nicolson in 1972. In this model membranes were described as the protein icebergs in the sea of lipids because in the lipid bilayer membrane all the proteins and lipids are arranged in a mosaic fashion which does not reflect rigidity, here proteins can move or float freely in between the layers of lipids, hence the term fluidity is used.
