Solution
Membrane proteins are the integral part of the plasma membrane along with lipids.
They represent the main components of all biological membrane. They are also structurally important and also act as channels and carries
Channels form open pores through the membranes allowing the free passage for any molecule of the appropriate size.
Carriers are selectively binds and transports specific ,molecules such as glucose rather then forming open channels, carriers protein act like enzymes so as to facilitates the passage of specific molecules across the membrane
Receptors that are also proteins are present at the surgace of the plasma membrane of the cell bind with the chemicals, molecules ,hormones , medicines, drugs outside the cell and this binding process causes a chemical response on the inside of the cell.
For eg morphine binds with the opoid receptor in the membrane of the brain cells and interiors of the cells respond by reducng the nerve transmission same is the pathway through which many of the hormones such a thyroid etc work.
Therefore different type of receptors in the form of proteins are present in different type of tissues in the body.
