Open in App
Solution

The electron transport system passes electrons from one complex to another down their reduction potential. The oxygen is the terminal or final acceptor of these electrons. if oxygen is not present then the passing of electron transport will stop and no energy will be produced. Hence oxygen is important for the operation of the electron transport process.
