In Indian conditions, inducements are essential to modernise agriculture. Poor fairness can not purchase modern inputs without subsidies. Elimination of subsidies may further increase the inequalities between rich and poor farmers. Hence it should continue. However, these should be given only to the small farmers who cannot afford the purchase of inputs at market prices.
