Question

Show that the following points are collinear.
(1, 4), (3, -2) and (-1, 10)

Open in App
Solution

A(1,4),B(3,2),C(1,10)

The condition for any three points to be collinear is :

mAB=mBC

Slope of (x1,y1),(x2,y2) =y2y1x2x1

mAB=2431=3

mBC=10(2)13=3

Hence they are collinear.
