Question

Show that the points (3, 2, 2), (-1, 4, 2), (0, 5, 6), (2, 1, 2) lie on a sphere whose centre is (1, 3, 4). Find also its radius.

Solution

Here, OA=(13)2+(32)2+(42)2

=4+1+4

=3 units

OB=(1+1)2+(31)2+(43)2

=4+4+1

=3 units

OC=(10)2+(35)2+(46)2

=1+4+4

=3 units

OD = (12)2+(31)2+(42)2

=1+4+4

=3 units

Since, OA = OC = OD = OB, points A, B, C, D lie on a sphere with centre O.

Radius = 3units
