Law of conservation of energy
Energy is the capacity of a body to do work.
It is present in many forms in nature.
All the forms are inter-convertible according to the law of conservation of energy.
This law says that “ In a closed system, i.e., a system that is isolated from its surroundings, the total energy of the system is conserved. ”
According to the law of conservation of energy, energy can neither be created nor be destroyed, it can only be converted from one form of energy to another.
All the energy of the universe is constant.
For example
In the hydroelectric power plants, the running waterfalls on the turbines fall from a certain height.
This rotates the turbines and due to this motion of turbine motors, electricity is generated.
Hence, the potential energy of water is converted into the kinetic energy of the turbines.
This kinetic energy is then converted into electrical energy. This shows the law of conservation of energy.
