The experiment indicates that the current flows through the diode only when it is forward biased. Current starts to flow in the circuit when the biasing voltage (V) reaches the barrier voltage of the diode (Vth).
From this experiment, we want to see the input characteristic of the diode that how the current flowing through the diode changes with increase in the biasing voltage (V).
The graph of I Vs V is shown which indicates that the current does not vary linearly with the voltage. So, diode is a non ohmic conductor.
