In order to be thrice as Shrutee let the increment in age be by $x$years, then

$$\begin{gathered} 3\left(10+x\right)=38+x \\ \Rightarrow 30+3x=38+x \\ \Rightarrow 2x=8 \\ \Rightarrow x=4 \end{gathered}$$

So after four years, Shrutee's mother will be three times shrutee's age.
