Silk is obtained from which stage of the life cycle of the silk moth?
Cocoon
Silkworms go through four stages of development, as do most insects: egg, larva, pupa/cocoon, and adult: the adult (imago) stage is the silkworm moth. After hatching from an egg, the worms take one month to reach the pupa stage. Once the worms start pupating in their cocoons, these are dissolved in boiling water in order for individual long fibres to be extracted and fed into the spinning reel.
