(1) −5 + 9 [(9) × (−3) + (6 × 11)] ÷ 13

Now, we have:
–5 + [9 × (–3) + (6 × 11)] ÷ 13
= –5 + [9 × (–3) + 66] ÷ 13 (Solving the simple brackets first)
= –5 + [–27 + 66] ÷ 13 (Performing multiplication)
= –5 + 39 ÷ 13 (Solving the square brackets)
= –5 + 3 (Performing division)
= –2
