$= 2 x^{2} - {2 (p + 1) - (2 p - 1)} x - (p + 1) (2 p - 1)$
$= 2 x (x - p - 1) + (2 p - 1) (x - p - 1)$
$= (x - p - 1) (2 x + 2 p - 1)$
