Solution

3 − [x − {2y − (5x + y − 3) + 2x2} − (x2 − 3y)]

We will first remove the innermost grouping symbol ( ), followed by { } and then [ ].

∴ 3 − [x − {2y − (5x + y − 3) + 2x2} − (x2 − 3y)]
= 3 − [x − {2y − 5x - y + 3 + 2x2} − x2 + 3y]
= 3 − [x − {y − 5x + 3 + 2x2} − x2 + 3y]
= 3 − [x − y + 5x − 3 − 2x2 − x2 + 3y]
= 3 − [ 6x − 3 − 3x2 + 2y]
= 3 − 6x + 3 + 3x2 − 2y
= 3x2 − 2y − 6x+6
